Employment law

Our Approach

We are committed to providing a client responsive service whether we are acting for employers or employees. Different payment schemes are available including Contingency Fee Agreements where appropriate.

We serve local and regional businesses. Brian O'Connell and Guy Salter who deal with employment matters have over 35 years’ experience between them. Stacey Redman has also recently joined the department.

Our services

A wide spectrum of employment law services is available. A non exhaustive list includes:

Contracts of Employment

We draft and negotiate Contracts of Employment and Consultancy Agreements as well as staff handbooks and other policy documents. A document review service is also available which updates documents to deal with changes to the law.

Tribunals and Court cases

We have a huge amount of experience of representing employers and employees alike in the Employment Tribunal and also in the County or High Court. We pride ourselves on our ability to give pragmatic advice taking into account the likely prospects of success and the costs involved in dealing with the matter. Litigation in itself is often a very stressful experience. We aim to provide support, guidance and above all quality legal advice.

Ongoing Employment Issues

We advise on all matters that arise during employment such as those concerning maternity leave, disciplinary and grievance matters, flexible and part time working requests, persistent absenteeism, all forms of discrimination and matters relating to the Working Time Regulations.

Equal Opportunities

We can advise upon discrimination in relation to sex, race and disability as well as issues involving age and sexual orientation. We also advise upon matters of equal pay and all management issues concerned with these areas.

Termination of Employment

Our services include advice on how to deal with the termination of senior executive contracts and other matters that arise upon the termination of an employee’s employment such as garden leave clauses, confidentiality and restrictive covenants.

Transfer of Undertaking Regulations

We provide advice to businesses in relation to the employment issues that arise upon the sale of a business.
